There is no specific reading list for this subject. If your child would like to explore the world of mathematics then these books are highly recommended as interesting and engaging: Humble Pi by Matt Parker, Fermat’s Last Theorem by Simon Singh, Alex's Adventures in Numberland by Alex Bellos and Why Do Buses Come in Threes by Rob Eastaway. There are copies of these books and more in our library.
How will you be assessed during the course?
At KS3, students are assessed three times per year during the DPR assessment periods where they will sit assessment papers related to the topics outlined.
How can you help your child excel in this subject?
Students will be provided with the specific facts that need to be known to help students engage with more challenging work in lessons. Please support your child in memorising these as well as completing work regularly on Sparx.
In addition to this, Sparx has optional extras that can help your child to progress even faster. XP Boost contains the same topics that were set that week but the next level in difficulty; Target work is customised revision for your child based on content that they have struggled with in the past or haven’t seen for awhile.
