What topics will you study in KS3 English?
In English Language, students will explore a range of texts such as non fiction extracts on the topics of migration and diversity. In literature, students will explore texts such as Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare and A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, in addition to a selection of poetry including poems by Maya Angelou and Benjamin Zephaniah.
Do you have a reading list for this subject?
We encourage students to read a range of fiction or non-fiction texts that they may find interesting, for at least 30 minutes each day.
How will you be assessed during the course?
At KS3, students are assessed three times per year during the DPR assessment periods where they will sit assessment papers related to the topics outlined.
How can you help your child excel in this subject?
Talk to your child regularly about the text they are reading in lessons. Test your child on memorisation of key quotes being learnt in English. Check they are completing their homework in a quiet and calm environment with no distractions.
